Samuel Out for Several Weeks
The 49ers will be without Deebo Samuel Sr. for at least a couple of weeks after the wide receiver suffered a right hamstring injury during the game against the Seahawks. Further testing confirmed the issue will sideline him for the next couple of contests and likely longer. Samuel exited in the third quarter after being tackled on the sideline and was unable to continue.
Additional Losses at Wide Receiver and Linebacker
The team is already missing four of its top five wide receivers from the start of the season. Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson remain on injured reserve, with Robinson eligible to begin a 21-day practice window after the upcoming game against the Washington Commanders. Christian Kirk is also on injured reserve with a calf issue and is not expected to return to practice this week. Backup linebacker Garret Wallow suffered a hamstring injury as well and will miss at least a couple of weeks.
Roster Adjustments and Potential Returns
Healthy wide receivers on the roster include Mike Evans, Jordan Watkins, Brandin Cooks and Jacob Cowing, with Will Pauling, Xavier Smith and Malik Turner available on the practice squad. At linebacker, the 49ers will use Jaden Dugger along with Luke Gifford and Tatum Bethune while Dre Greenlaw serves a one-game suspension, and they may add Jalen Graham if needed. Nick Martin could have his practice window opened this week as he recovers from a hamstring injury. In positive developments, Nick Bosa, Kyle Juszczyk and James Thompson Jr. are all in position to return this week.
