Details of the Altercation
With 6:30 remaining in the first half, Greenlaw delivered a late hit on the Seahawks quarterback after the play had moved out of bounds. The contact sparked a confrontation with Seattle linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was without his helmet at the time. Greenlaw, still wearing his own helmet, made contact with Jones' face amid the scuffle on the sideline.
League Ruling and Appeal Options
The NFL issued a one-game suspension without pay for unsportsmanlike conduct under Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1. Greenlaw must sit out the Oct. 19 game against the Washington Commanders and can rejoin the roster on Tuesday, Oct. 20, unless an appeal succeeds. Possible hearing officers include Derrick Brooks, Jordy Nelson, Ron Rivera or James Thrash.
Team Adjustments and Prior Incidents
Rookie Jaden Dugger shifted into the vacated spot and recorded nine tackles along with a sack. This marks Greenlaw's second one-game suspension in consecutive seasons, following a prior ban for verbally threatening a referee.
