Elite value in every department
Arsenal and Barcelona each have three players who make the cut in an assessment of talent capable of attracting a £100 million transfer fee. Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and William Saliba form Arsenal’s group, while Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Pau Cubarsí qualify for Barcelona. Both clubs have a representative in attack, midfield and defense, underlining the spread of their most valuable assets. The distinction is between what a club might demand and what a buyer could reasonably pay. Ability, potential, age and positional scarcity shape the assessment; contract length is excluded.
Defenders challenge the ceiling
Saliba and Cubarsí present particularly intriguing cases because no defender has yet moved for £100 million. The benchmark remains Harry Maguire’s £80 million transfer from Leicester City to Manchester United. Saliba’s standing among the leading center backs strengthens his case. Cubarsí’s appeal combines his teenage years with an established role at Barcelona and recognition as Young Player of the Tournament during Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph. Rice, meanwhile, has reinforced his value since joining Arsenal for an initial £100 million.
Bayern pair qualify; Liverpool’s list is shorter
Michael Olise and Aleksandar Pavlovic meet the threshold at Bayern Munich, offering a combination of high-level performance and further development potential. Liverpool’s qualifying player is Bradley Barcola, whose initial £106 million arrival establishes his valuation through an actual deal. Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai fall short in this assessment, illustrating why a previous fee or an important squad role does not automatically guarantee the same market value today.
