Comeback Secures Victory
Auburn trailed by 14 points early before scoring the next 24 points to take a lead into the fourth quarter. The Tigers finished with a 27-24 win after a 34-yard field goal as time expired. The victory ended a nine-game losing streak in the series and marked the first time Auburn had beaten a top-ranked Georgia squad since 1942.
Brown Powers Offense
Byrum Brown ran for 115 yards and one score while passing for 150 yards and another touchdown. Auburn rushed for 192 yards total and converted all three red-zone chances. The performance came against a Georgia defense that had been highly effective earlier in the season.
Late Turnover Proves Decisive
Georgia tied the score at 24-24 with under three minutes remaining. After Auburn punted, the Bulldogs advanced to the 46-yard line before a fumble by their quarterback gave Auburn the ball at its own 44. That recovery set up the game-winning kick. Auburn recorded three takeaways overall while avoiding any turnovers on offense.
