Decision Still Pending
Chicago's coach remained undecided Monday about the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Falcons. The team is evaluating its options after a 31-7 loss in which the two backups combined for four of the five turnovers. Johnson noted that assessments are ongoing and no direction has been finalized for the role should the starter stay out.
Williams Injury Update
The Bears have now gone without their primary quarterback for a third straight game as he works back from a Grade 2 hamstring strain suffered in Week 2. At the time of the injury he posted the third-best Total QBR at 85.1 and led all quarterbacks with 107 rushing yards. He practiced in limited fashion last Friday and completed an extensive workout before being held out again.
Backup Struggles in Recent Outing
The two reserves combined for a Total QBR of 56.8 and threw four interceptions against two touchdowns. One finished with 87 passing yards and a 27.4 passer rating before being replaced, while the other went 11-of-19 for 108 yards and one interception. Johnson said the team has three quarterbacks capable of winning games.
