Team Strength Rankings
The Basketball Power Index places the Nuggets among the top offensive units for the seventh straight year. Oklahoma City leads all defenses at plus-5.7, ahead of the Spurs at plus-4.2. The Pistons also rank high on that side of the ball. The gap between the best and worst defenses reaches 10.4 net points per game, wider than the 8.0 spread on offense. The Warriors sit at No. 20 overall because of an early-season absence, though their rating would climb to No. 12 at full strength.
Playoff and Title Projections
Six Western teams each carry at least an 85 percent chance to reach the postseason. The Thunder hold roughly a one-in-four chance to win the championship. In the East the Sixers post the third-best playoff rating and carry an 8 percent title probability that changes little whether they finish as the top seed or the sixth seed. The model gives the Sixers a 52 percent chance to defeat the Celtics in a potential playoff series.
Draft Lottery and Streak Outlook
Under the new lottery rules the Thunder own the third-best odds at the 2027 No. 1 pick, listed at 11 percent, along with a 75 percent chance at a top-10 selection. The Kings, projected as the league's worst team, sit at 7 percent for the top pick. The Thunder and Spurs each carry about a 70 percent chance of producing at least one 10-game winning streak this season.
