Trade Details and Background
Brady Tkachuk was dealt from the Senators to the Panthers in a June 21 transaction that returned three first-round selections, two of them in 2026 and one in 2029, along with a 2027 second-round pick. The move followed his request to leave after eight seasons in which he recorded 213 goals across 572 games. He had been drafted fourth overall in 2018 and signed a seven-year, $57.5 million extension in 2021 before serving as captain.
Start With New Team
Tkachuk opened the season without a goal or assist through six games. He then recorded consecutive natural hat tricks, first in a 7-3 win over Columbus and then in a 3-2 overtime victory against Vancouver, becoming the first player in franchise history to achieve the feat in back-to-back contests.
Return Expectations
The Panthers visit Ottawa at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The Senators ran a jersey exchange promotion earlier in the summer, and the local baseball club held a similar event. Tkachuk has stated he holds no specific expectations for the crowd reaction and plans to donate any former jerseys tossed on the ice to a local youth organization.
