How the Brewers Scored the Deciding Run
Cooper Pratt laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner into scoring position. Rookie Luis Lara then drove a first-pitch changeup up the middle to bring Mitchell home and give Milwaukee a fifth-inning lead it would not surrender.
Defense and Bullpen Keep Dodgers Off the Board
Jacob Misiorowski benefited from three double plays, including a pair of 6-4-3 twin killings in the first and second innings. After his exit in the fifth, the bullpen took over. DL Hall, Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby and Trevor Megill combined for 4⅔ scoreless innings. Ashby worked two of those frames and ended the eighth with infield popups from Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani.
What the Result Means for the Series
The Dodgers have now lost just the second opening game of a playoff series since their championship run began in 2024.
