Promotion Creates High Expectations
A promotion from 2015 allowed fans who paid 1000 dollars to receive admission to any future game. The offer also permitted holders to purchase three more tickets at full price for the same event. Buyers were told they would receive the best available seats, with priority just behind season ticket holders. Several hundred fans sought to use their tickets for the team's first World Series appearance since 1982.
Seat Assignments Draw Complaints
Some fans who redeemed the tickets received only 400 level or standing room options and could not select specific games in advance. One holder who had planned for years to use the ticket reported receiving three seats in the 400 level for one game and a single lower level seat for another. That holder noted better seats appeared available during the public sale than what was offered through the promotion.
Team Offers Resolution to Holders
Team leadership stated that all applicants before the deadline will keep their World Series tickets while retaining the original promotion ticket for use in a future season. The organization said it did not meet the intended spirit of the program and expressed regret over the seat locations provided.
