Coleman's absence extends beyond Sunday
The Denver Broncos placed rookie running back Jonah Coleman on injured reserve Saturday after he hurt his ankle in the Week 2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Coleman had already been ruled out against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. The roster move keeps him out for at least three games beyond that matchup, making Oct. 25 against the Arizona Cardinals his earliest possible return. The fourth-round pick played a significant role in closing out Jacksonville. Coleman gained 33 of his 39 rushing yards on Denver's final possession, helping the Broncos drain the remaining 4 minutes, 41 seconds. He also scored his first career touchdown on a 3-yard run. Coleman received ankle treatment during the week and appeared on the practice field in uniform, but he did not participate in team drills.
Dobbins and Harvey ready to return
J.K. Dobbins is set to lead Denver's backfield against the Rams after practicing fully Thursday and Friday. He exited the Jaguars game in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. RJ Harvey, who missed that game because of a hamstring injury, also finished the week with full participation and will be available. Coach Sean Payton offered no further detail Friday on the severity of Coleman's injury but expressed confidence in the available running backs.
Denver makes additional roster moves
The Broncos also signed long snapper Mitchell Fraboni to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday and elevated fullback Adam Prentice and wide receiver Kolbe Katsis for Sunday. Katsis provides another return option with Marvin Mims Jr. Questionable because of a foot injury. Mims earned All-Pro return honors in 2024, while Katsis was among Denver's more productive returners during training camp.
