Martin Sidelined for Extended Period
BYU tailback LJ Martin will miss four to six weeks with a lower body injury. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound senior was hurt in the first quarter of the Cougars' 17-10 victory at TCU and did not return. Martin is expected to be out at least a month.
Strong Production in 2025 and This Season
Martin earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2025 after rushing for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those efforts helped BYU win 12 games and reach the conference title game. This year he has 344 yards and three scores on 7.8 yards per carry, including a 176-yard outing against Colorado State. He is ranked as the No. 5 running back prospect for the 2027 draft.
Team Depth and Additional Absences
BYU enters the week at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 play. Linebacker Isaiah Glasker and running back Sione Moa will not play in the upcoming home game against Iowa State, while safety Raider Damuni is listed as doubtful.
