Draw Extends Poor Run
Michael Carrick's position as Manchester United head coach came under renewed scrutiny following a 1-1 draw at Leeds United.
Transfer Criticism and Lineup Decisions
A midweek loss to Atlético Madrid had already drawn attention after Lisandro Martínez voiced concerns over the summer transfer window and the role of director of football Jason Wilcox. Martínez later apologised and started in the lineup selected by Carrick for the trip to Elland Road.
Goals and Striker Form
United went ahead when Bryan Mbeumo turned in a low cross from Youri Tielemans past goalkeeper James Trafford. Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised for Leeds in the 51st minute. The England forward has now scored in six of his last seven home Premier League appearances for seven goals in that span. Only Erling Haaland with 13 has more Premier League goals than Calvert-Lewin's eight since the start of April.
