Results Required for Continued Support
Michael Carrick has expressed that he feels the backing of Manchester United's board but understands this will depend on delivering wins. The team enters its Champions League match against Como on Wednesday on a run of six games without a victory, adding to the pressure following a challenging opening to the campaign.
Strong Ties With Leadership
Carrick highlighted his positive relationships with minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox. He noted that these connections remain solid and that the focus must now shift to achieving positive outcomes on the pitch to allow everything else to align.
Injury and Availability Issues
With nine senior players unavailable, United seek their first away win in the Champions League since November 2021. Matthijs de Ligt is in line for a return after an 11-month absence, while Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martínez, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Ayden Heaven did not travel. Leny Yoro remains suspended following the 2-0 loss to Atlético Madrid.
