Injury Update
Coby White suffered a left calf strain during training camp and will miss the rest of the preseason. The 26-year-old guard was acquired from the Chicago Bulls in February and showed strong play down the stretch with his new club. He joins second-year guard Kon Knueppel, who is dealing with a left hamstring strain sustained earlier in camp, on the injury list for the exhibition slate.
Contract and Role
White signed a three-year, $74 million deal with Charlotte over the summer. He is viewed as a key piece in the backcourt following the LaMelo Ball trade that created an opening at the position. The guard is expected to handle a significant workload once the regular season begins.
Notable Performance and Schedule
In the play-in victory over the Miami Heat, White scored 19 points and hit a turnaround three late in regulation to send the game to overtime. The Hornets open their preseason Tuesday night, while the regular season starts on the road in Brooklyn on October 21.
