First Dismissal for Palmer Completes Milestone
Cole Palmer received his first red card in senior football as Chelsea became only the third club to reach 100 Premier League dismissals. The total places them behind Everton on 113 and Arsenal on 110. The incident came in the second half of the London derby that finished 2-0 to the visitors.
Sequence of Bookings Leads to Second Yellow
Palmer was shown a yellow card in the 70th minute after a shove on Mateus Fernandes. Ten minutes later he was dismissed for a late challenge on Conor Gallagher. The red card means Chelsea have now collected 100 Premier League reds, not counting any that were later rescinded.
Suspension Details and League Standing
Palmer will miss the Carabao Cup trip to Liverpool on Wednesday but remains available for the home league match against Manchester United. Last season Chelsea recorded 11 dismissals involving players and staff, the highest total in the division, ahead of Tottenham on five. The defeat leaves Chelsea in fourth place, with Liverpool, Brentford and Leeds still able to move above them with wins on Sunday.
