Cosmi and Cross stay behind
Washington will face the Colts in London without guard Sam Cosmi and safety Nick Cross after neither player joined the team's Tuesday night flight. Both starters were injured during the Week 2 loss at Dallas. Cosmi sustained a concussion late in that game. Cross played through an internal injury before undergoing surgery afterward and spending the night in a Dallas hospital. Their absences leave the Commanders managing gaps on both sides of the ball as they enter the matchup at 1-2.
Daniels among potential returnees
Quarterback Jayden Daniels, tight end Chig Okonkwo and linebacker Frankie Luvu traveled with Washington. Coach Dan Quinn expects each to take part in some practice work this week, with a light session planned for Wednesday following the team's arrival. Daniels remains week-to-week with an injury to his left, non-throwing elbow, though he has resumed some throwing. Marcus Mariota would get the start if Daniels is unavailable. Okonkwo is dealing with a hamstring injury, while Luvu has a groin injury.
Depth faces another test
Kain Medrano would line up alongside rookie Sonny Styles if Luvu cannot play. Both intercepted passes in the 33-31 victory over Seattle, with Medrano taking his interception back 50 yards for a touchdown. Washington's linebacker depth has also been hit by Leo Chenal's fractured neck and Jordan Magee's hamstring injury, which landed him on injured reserve. Nick Allegretti is expected to replace Cosmi at right guard, with Lucas Patrick at center. Patrick missed four snaps against Seattle because of an ankle injury and left the game wearing a boot on his left foot.
