A reunion across both sidelines
Brian Daboll heads back to MetLife Stadium on Sunday as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator, bringing a group of familiar faces for the Titans’ matchup with the Giants. Wan’Dale Robinson, Austin Schlottmann, Daniel Bellinger and Cor’Dale Flott are among the former Giants now with Tennessee. The connections run both ways: former Titans head coach Brian Callahan is New York’s quarterbacks coach, while Dennard Wilson coordinates the Giants’ defense after previously holding that role in Tennessee. Daboll’s Giants tenure began in 2022 and included a divisional playoff appearance in his opening season. He finished 20-40-1 before being dismissed in November 2025 following a 2-8 start. Ahead of his return, Daboll has emphasized appreciation for the opportunity and preparation for the opponent rather than personal grievances.
Injuries put coverage under scrutiny
New York’s injury-hit secondary could provide openings for Robinson and the Titans’ receivers. Rookie cornerback Colton Hood moved into a starting role last week and surrendered four catches on five targets for 42 yards and two touchdowns, with Davante Adams his primary matchup. Whether Tennessee attacks downfield remains a question. Cam Ward has attempted only one pass traveling at least 20 yards, and the Titans’ tight ends have drawn seven targets across two games. Tennessee also has uncertainty at cornerback. Flott missed last week with a quad injury and has been limited in practice, though he believes he is progressing toward playing Sunday. A return would bring a matchup with former practice opponent Malik Nabers. Both teams have ample knowledge of the opposing personnel and coaching tendencies. Robinson’s view is that exploiting individual matchups and executing plays will ultimately carry more weight than that familiarity.
