Rally Falls Short
The Seahawks fell to 3-3 after a 17-14 overtime loss to the Broncos, leaving them 2.5 games behind the 49ers in the NFC West. Seattle trailed 14-3 before mounting a comeback in the fourth quarter behind an 11-play, 67-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run. A successful two-point conversion cut the deficit to 14-11, and a 34-yard field goal forced overtime. The team managed just 91 yards in the first half and committed a fumble by Rashid Shaheed.
Turnovers Prove Costly
Sam Darnold threw two interceptions late in regulation and overtime that sealed the outcome. He has thrown seven interceptions and seven touchdown passes across four games since returning from a glute injury in Week 3. Entering Week 6 he ranked 29th in Total QBR at 34.4. The quarterback was sacked five times for the second straight game and absorbed 17 official hits. Seattle has now turned the ball over 12 times in six games, including 10 turnovers in three losses decided by a combined eight points. Opponents have scored 44 points off those 10 takeaways.
Defense Stands Strong
The defense allowed two long touchdown drives of 74 and 79 yards in the second quarter but then forced punts on the Broncos' next seven possessions in regulation, five of them three-and-outs. Despite the late defeat, the unit limited further damage after the early struggles. Darnold, who earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2025 after leading the league with 20 turnovers during the regular season, expressed a need to protect the ball more effectively moving forward.
