The On-Field Incident
During Saturday's contest against North Carolina, Duke cornerback Kimari Robinson stood over teammate DaShawn Stone, who lay injured on the field. As a member of the training staff approached to check on Stone, Robinson swatted her arm away.
Public Apology Issued
Robinson reached out to the staff member after the game to apologize in person. He later posted a statement Sunday night acknowledging the mistake and the lack of justification for his response. He noted his close bond with Stone but stressed that concern for a teammate did not excuse treating the staffer poorly or failing to control his emotions.
Team Standing
The Blue Devils fell to a 4-2 record following the 24-20 defeat to the Tar Heels. Robinson serves as a redshirt junior and regular starter at cornerback for the program.
