Sudden Departures Alter the Front
The Philadelphia Eagles lost two offensive line starters in quick succession. All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson retired after a 13-plus year career that included two Super Bowl titles and support for Saquon Barkley's 2024 season. General manager Howie Roseman then traded interior lineman Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round selection.
Injuries Add to the Pressure
The moves left a group already missing left guard Landon Dickerson, who is on injured reserve with a knee injury. Additional hamstring issues have sidelined Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith. Rookie Markel Bell steps in at right tackle while Willie Lampkin shifts into the starting lineup. The rest of the unit features left tackle Jordan Mailata, right guard Tyler Steen and center Drew Kendall.
Outlook for the 2026 Season
Four games into the year the Eagles head to London for a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The front office gained future draft capital and salary flexibility, yet questions remain about how the revamped line will perform under a new offensive system with quarterback Jalen Hurts and coordinator Sean Mannion. The unit has long been central to the franchise's stability since the early 2000s.
