Decision Made
Five-star wide receiver Easton Royal has flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida. The New Orleans native stands 6 feet tall and weighs 205 pounds. He ranks as the top wide receiver and No. 8 overall prospect. His move follows a recent visit to the Gators during their 38-19 loss to South Carolina.
Recruitment Path
Royal initially joined the Texas class last November as its first member. He had maintained that pledge through the summer despite interest from other programs. The flip ends his recruitment process and cancels planned visits to Texas and LSU. Florida now holds 25 prospects in its class, ranked No. 8 nationally.
Background and Impact
A multi-sport athlete at Brother Martin, Royal posted 2,095 all-purpose yards and 29 total touchdowns as a junior. In May he ran a 10.17-second 100-meter dash to break a state record. The commitment adds to Florida's class that already includes the No. 7 overall prospect. The Gators visit Texas on Saturday at 12 PM ET while holding a 4-2 record.
