Former Bears linebacker Otis Wilson, 69, became involved in a physical confrontation with security personnel at Soldier Field after the team's game against the Jets. The incident began when Wilson and his wife boarded an elevator reserved for media use on the suite level without credentials. A female security officer directed them to exit, but Wilson remained on board until the officer attempted to remove them physically.
Details of the Confrontation
The 5-foot-4 female officer, an off-duty law enforcement member who has worked at the venue since 2024, was joined by a male colleague during the effort to clear the elevator. According to security accounts, Wilson forced his way onto the elevator and threw the female officer into a wall, creating a large hole and causing bruising to her ribs and arms. Wilson stated that he and his wife were assaulted by the officers before he could identify himself, leading to his transport by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.
Investigation Underway
Police responded to the hospital and confirmed an active investigation into the events. Wilson, who retired after a 10-year career in 1989 and has served as a team ambassador, called for preservation of footage and a full review by the Chicago Park District and its security contractor. Both Wilson and the security company stated they will cooperate with authorities.
