Road Triumph in Physical Battle
Georgia overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Alabama 20-17 on the road. The win marked the program's first victory in Tuscaloosa since 2007, when the Bulldogs prevailed 26-23. In his 11th season, the Georgia coach earned his first regular-season victory against the Crimson Tide at their home stadium. The Bulldogs had lost their previous five regular-season meetings with Alabama, including two on the road. They had also beaten the same opponent 28-7 in the conference title game on Dec. 6.
Decisive Late Sequence
Peyton Woodring connected on a 23-yard field goal with 5:25 left to give Georgia a 20-17 lead. After Alabama advanced to the Georgia 34, the Bulldogs forced a punt. On the ensuing possession, Gunner Stockton threw a 17-yard completion on third-and-7 from the 10. A 15-yard personal foul penalty on Dijon Lee Jr. provided another first down, allowing Georgia to run out the clock.
Standout Efforts Carry Bulldogs
Stockton completed 18 of 22 passes for 249 yards with one touchdown and one interception while adding a 14-yard scoring run. Dwight Phillips Jr. rushed for a career-best 120 yards on 17 carries after starters Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens were sidelined. Bo Walker added 69 yards on 10 attempts. The defense contributed with sacks and a key breakup on a deep pass attempt.
