Reunion ends with limited production
The New York Giants released Odell Beckham Jr. On Tuesday, ending a return that never developed into a meaningful offensive role. Beckham, 33, appeared in three games and logged 19 snaps without making a catch. His only target came during Sunday's 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans, when a throw from Jameis Winston was nearly intercepted. Beckham played six snaps in that game. After returning to New York in the spring, Beckham faced a clear requirement from coach John Harbaugh to earn his place. He made the 53-man roster as the fifth receiver earlier this month, but that opportunity produced little involvement. He is not expected to join the Giants' practice squad at this time.
Roster needs drive changes
The Giants needed room for receiver and punt returner Braxton Berrios, who had exhausted his practice squad elevations. New York signed him to the 53-man roster Tuesday. The team also added receiver Charlie Jones to the active roster. His spot became available when outside linebacker Brian Burns went on injured reserve following a torn ACL suffered Sunday.
A different ending in New York
The reunion offered Beckham a chance to revive his career with the franchise that selected him 12th in 2014. His previous NFL action came with Miami in the 2024 season, when he finished with nine receptions for 54 yards. His latest stint contrasted sharply with his early Giants years, when he surpassed 1,300 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. The three-time Pro Bowler has also played for Cleveland, the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore. His career totals stand at 575 catches, 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns.
