Ramirez Powers Comeback Win
Jose Ramirez connected for a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give the Guardians a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish against the White Sox. Steven Kwan opened the frame with a single, and Ramirez drove the ball just over the right-field wall for his sixth postseason homer. The blast came on a pitch measured at 0.74 feet above the ground, the lowest pitch hit for a home run in postseason play since tracking began in 2008.
Pitching Staff Dominates Series Finale
Guardians pitchers combined for 21 strikeouts in the nine-inning game. Chicago managed only three hits and put nine balls in play. Williams recorded 22 swings and misses and finished the series with 24 strikeouts. Hunter Gaddis and Cade Smith handled the final three innings, with Smith earning a five-out save. The White Sox struck out 75 times across the series.
Cleveland Advances to Face Rays
The Guardians completed their rally from an 0-2 deficit in the best-of-five ALDS with the 2-0 victory. Cleveland will open the AL Championship Series on the road against Tampa Bay on Monday night. The Guardians last reached the World Series in 2016 and last won the title in 1948. Tampa Bay finished 5-1 against Cleveland during the regular season, including a three-game sweep in July.
