Offense Breaks Through
The Guardians scored nine runs on 11 hits to defeat the White Sox 9-3 in Game 3. After totaling just three runs across the first two games, Cleveland used two-out triples from Jo Adell and Jose Ramirez to build leads of 4-1 in the third inning and 7-3 in the eighth. Adell drove in three runs with his triple, while Ramirez brought home two more. Four Cleveland players collected two hits each.
White Sox Struggle With Strikeouts
Chicago struck out 19 times and went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The White Sox had taken a 1-0 lead in the first on Kyle Teel's RBI double, but Cleveland responded quickly. A reliever recorded seven strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings for the Guardians, and the team avoided a sweep before a crowd of 40,590.
Series Moves Forward
Jose Ramirez added to his postseason experience in his 48th game by doubling, stealing third and scoring in the fifth for a 5-2 lead. Parker Messick is scheduled to start Game 4 for Cleveland after going 12-9 with a 2.56 ERA in 32 regular-season starts.
