Jail records indicated that Smith apparently remained in custody as of midday Tuesday.
Police describe warrant stop
Royse City police chief Kirk Aldridge said officers received an alert concerning a warrant issued for Smith by the Southlake Police Department. Smith's license plate was spotted on Interstate 30, northeast of Dallas, and officers identified and arrested him. Smith was traveling with his brother, according to Aldridge. Officers released the vehicle to his brother following the arrest. Southlake police said Tuesday that the case remained under investigation and declined to release additional details. A department spokesperson said Smith would be arraigned in Tarrant County.
