Final Roster Moves
The Knicks have decided to waive Bruce Brown while retaining James Wiseman for the regular season opener. Brown competed with several players on non-guaranteed contracts for the final roster spots. Tony Bradley, Ochai Agbaji and Drew Eubanks were also released in recent days. The team sits 3.2 million below its self-imposed hard cap at the second apron, a figure that made it difficult to keep both Brown and Wiseman.
Wiseman Secures Spot
Wiseman appeared in all four of the Knicks' preseason games. He stood out during one outing against the Toronto Raptors, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes. At 25 years old, he will now slot into the center rotation alongside Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond.
Frontcourt Adjustments
The club lost key reserve big man Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics via free agency over the summer. Wiseman provides additional depth at the position as New York prepares to open the regular season on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
