Costly Mistake on Final Drive
A personal foul by sophomore cornerback Dijon Lee Jr. after a 1-yard run gave Georgia a first down late in the game. Alabama had positioned itself for a potential stop that could have led to a punt and a chance to tie or take the lead. Instead the penalty allowed the Bulldogs to run out the clock on the next three plays.
Coach and Teammates Address Standards
Coach Kalen DeBoer stressed the need for emotional maturity after the penalty and noted that the team had generally shown that quality in recent seasons. DeBoer also pointed to an earlier non-call on a pass into the end zone with 3:28 remaining that left Alabama without a potential scoring opportunity.
Statistical Shortfalls in Defeat
Alabama committed one turnover and surrendered six tackles for loss while allowing 206 yards on the ground and converting seven of 13 third-down attempts. Quarterback Keelon Russell finished with 185 passing yards, his lowest total of the season. DeBoer said the focus now shifts to the next game and returning to work with the right mindset.
