Strong Start in New Uniform
LeBron James made his first appearance for the 76ers in a 114-108 preseason loss at the Nets. The 41-year-old finished the first half with 10 points, five assists and four rebounds while helping Philadelphia reach a 58-56 lead. He logged 18 minutes total and attempted just one field goal, instead converting all eight free throws after drawing four fouls.
New Lineup Shows Potential
The 76ers gave their revamped starting group its first test, with James joining Jaylen Brown alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. Maxey led the starters with 14 points while the others each reached at least six. The group showed sharp ball movement at times after an early missed shot on a pass intended for Embiid.
Adjustment Period Underway
James arrived after eight seasons with the Lakers on a two-year deal at the league minimum. He has now begun his NBA-record 24th season. The 76ers have two remaining preseason games against the Celtics before opening the regular season on Oct. 20 against the Knicks.
