Decision at Quarterback
Tennessee will start sophomore George MacIntyre at quarterback against Arkansas. The 6-foot-6 player from Franklin will receive his first career start in place of freshman Faizon Brandon, who had opened every game this season. MacIntyre entered the previous game against Auburn in relief and completed 8 of 10 passes with no turnovers.
Brandon's Season and Recent Injury
Brandon completed 61 of 101 passes for 697 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 53 rushes for 236 yards and three touchdowns. He suffered a shoulder injury during the 20-17 loss to Texas two weeks earlier and left the game briefly before returning. The coach indicated Brandon had not been at his best after dealing with the injury.
MacIntyre's Experience
MacIntyre has appeared in four games this season and completed 14 of 20 passes for 148 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He also played in two games last season as a former four-star prospect and top recruit in the state. The coach noted that both quarterbacks handled the change as good teammates.
