A new benchmark for NBA jerseys
His game-worn Game 3 jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals sold Tuesday for $12,260,000. Rob Gough sold the jersey through Joopiter, the digital marketplace and auction house curated by Pharrell Williams. The sale attracted a single bid and finished within the projected range of $10 million to $15 million. The previous record belonged to Jordan’s Game 1 jersey from that same Finals series, which fetched $10.1 million in September 2022.
From a dominant Finals performance
Jordan scored 24 points, collected three rebounds and added two assists while wearing the jersey in Chicago’s 96-54 win over the Utah Jazz. That victory put the Bulls ahead 2-1 in the series. Chicago went on to secure the championship in six games, completing the title run remembered as the Last Dance. Jordan finished his NBA career with six championships.
Authentication and ownership
Gough purchased the jersey in 2023. Its authentication by MeiGray dates to December 2015, and it was photo-matched to two specific images. The jersey includes an NBA Finals patch on the upper right chest, mesh fabric and an NBA Authentics label alongside a size 50 tag at the lower left.
