Closer Returns to Roster
The Padres reinstated Mason Miller to their National League Division Series roster on Wednesday after he spent one day on the paternity list. Miller, who replaced left-hander Wandy Peralta, is expected to be available for Game 4 against the Milwaukee Brewers. The team trails the best-of-five series two games to one and faces elimination.
Bullpen Options Take Shape
Manager Craig Stammen indicated that Adrian Morejon felt some shoulder stiffness earlier in the week but showed improvement. The team will evaluate Morejon later in the day after he throws to determine his availability. Michael King, who handled the final two innings of the previous contest after throwing 40 pitches, is also expected to be ready if needed.
Starter Faces Short Leash
Walker Buehler will start Game 4 opposite Milwaukee left-hander Robert Gasser. Given the situation, Buehler is likely to receive limited innings, with the club prepared to turn to its bullpen early to preserve a chance at forcing a decisive fifth game.
