Mitchell Delivers Offense and Defense

Garrett Mitchell tripled and scored the tiebreaking run in the fifth inning while driving in Sal Frelick earlier for Milwaukee's first run. In the eighth, Mitchell tracked a 406-foot drive from Manny Machado and reached above the short wall in right-center to keep the ball in the yard and preserve the lead. Jackson Chourio later drove in Mitchell, moving his postseason RBI total to 17 in 16 games.

Pitching and Defense Hold Firm

Robert Gasser threw four innings of three-hit ball before four Brewers pitchers combined on a three-hitter overall. Brice Turang ended the eighth with an acrobatic catch on a tailing popup. The Brewers manufactured runs through 10 hits while snapping a 12-game postseason road losing streak.

Series Context and Next Step

The 103-win Brewers finished the best-of-five series in four games after the Padres had won 19 of 22 before dropping three of four. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a 429-foot homer, but San Diego fell short. Milwaukee will host the Dodgers in Game 1 on Sunday and needs four wins for only the second World Series berth in team history.
