Chargers face a difficult road in Buffalo
The Chargers enter Week 3 at 0-2, with Justin Herbert emphasizing corrections rather than panic ahead of a matchup against the Bills. Sustaining possessions remains a concern: Los Angeles has converted 7-for-22 on third down, and Herbert has absorbed six sacks. Buffalo is 2-0 despite surrendering 30 points in each game. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Bills a 78.2% chance to win, with a projected average margin of 8.2 points. ESPN analysts Pam Maldonado, Eric Moody and Seth Walder all picked Buffalo. DJ Moore’s availability remains worth monitoring. The receiver returned to limited practice with a shoulder injury, and both Moore and coach Joe Brady expressed optimism about Sunday. Buffalo averaged 8.9 yards per play before Moore exited in Week 2 and 4.7 afterward.
Jacksonville’s home edge meets New England’s challenge
The Jaguars host the Patriots with both clubs at 1-1. Jacksonville has gone 8-1 against the spread at home under Liam Coen, including 5-0 as a home favorite. New England quarterback Maye has taken six sacks and thrown four interceptions this season. Jacksonville’s defense, meanwhile, has limited opponents to 5-for-19 on third down. FPI assigns the Jaguars a 57.5% win probability, although ESPN’s score picks were split, with Walder favoring the Patriots. Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez presents a significant challenge for Jacksonville’s receivers. Coen emphasized using formations and motion to help create opportunities against him.
Quarterback uncertainty in Seattle-Washington
Washington will turn to Marcus Mariota with Jayden Daniels sidelined by an elbow injury. Seattle could have Sam Darnold back from the glute injury he suffered in Week 1, but his return remains uncertain. The Seahawks have conceded just 17 points through their opening games. Washington’s defense faces its own test after allowing seven touchdown passes, with Seattle receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba averaging 138.5 receiving yards per game.
