Lacy unlikely to play
No. 4 Ole Miss is preparing to face No. 21 Florida on Saturday without star running back Kewan Lacy, though coach Pete Golding has not completely ruled out his availability. Lacy was listed as doubtful on Friday’s SEC injury report following a left shoulder injury against LSU last week. He underwent X-rays after that game and an MRI on Sunday. The junior has carried 39 times for 191 yards and four touchdowns this season. It is his latest injury setback after a thigh bruise forced him out of the season-opening victory over Louisville. He returned against Charlotte the following week and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Rebels turn to backfield depth
If Lacy is unavailable, JT Lindsey and Makhi Frazier are expected to divide the rushing workload. Lindsey, a sophomore who transferred from LSU, has 48 yards on 12 carries this season. Frazier, a junior transfer from Michigan State, has gained 38 yards on nine attempts. Replacing Lacy means covering for a back who earned All-America recognition and was a Doak Walker Award finalist last season. He established Ole Miss single-season records with 306 rushing attempts, 1,567 yards and 24 rushing touchdowns.
Florida awaits Singleton decision
The Gators also have an availability question on offense. Receiver Eric Singleton Jr. Remains a game-time decision because of a sprained left ankle that has delayed his Florida debut. Coach Jon Sumrall expressed optimism about his chances of playing. Singleton arrived after a season at Auburn, where he caught 58 passes for 534 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. Before Auburn, he spent two years at Georgia Tech.
