Lawsuit Filed
Packers running back Josh Jacobs filed a civil suit seeking a permanent injunction to restrict access to records from his May 23 altercation with a woman at his home. The filing came one day after local police approved release of certain records with redactions, though an appeal halted that process. Jacobs argues the release would expose private details about his garage layout, including entrances, exits and security features.
Prior Resolution
On Sept. 10 Jacobs entered a no contest plea to battery and criminal destruction of property charges. He received a battery conviction and a $1,000 fine along with a deferred judgment agreement on the property damage count. Two weeks later a judge lifted a temporary seal on the records and left the release decision with police.
Ongoing Review
The suit also highlights risks to athletes from home robberies and notes that public release of residence details could increase vulnerability. Jacobs remains on the commissioner exempt list while the league continues its review of the matter. Any future suspension would account for time already served on that list.
