The Padres defeated the Brewers 4-3 in Game 3 of their NL Division Series. Jake Cronenworth delivered a tiebreaking homer while Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado added early runs. San Diego avoided elimination and cut Milwaukee's best-of-five lead to 2-1.
Michael King, the Game 1 starter who had already thrown five innings two days earlier, worked the final two innings for his first save since 2023 and his first in the postseason. Xander Bogaerts ended the game with a double play at shortstop after fielding a ninth-inning line drive and touching second before throwing to first.
William Contreras homered and collected three hits for the Brewers, who stranded 11 runners and never led. Christian Yelich recorded his first playoff RBI since 2018 with a seventh-inning single. Milwaukee has now lost its 12th straight postseason road game dating to the 2018 NL Championship Series. Game 4 is set for Wednesday night at Petco Park, with Game 5 if necessary on Friday in Milwaukee.
