Three Players Return to Active Roster
The Panthers activated right tackle Taylor Moton from the non-football illness list, defensive end Tershawn Wharton from the physically unable to perform list and running back Trevor Etienne from injured reserve. The moves filled the three openings on the 53-man roster without additional transactions. Moton and Wharton sat out training camp, the preseason and the first four games while recovering from their conditions.
Moton and Wharton Set to Contribute
Moton practiced fully all week and carries a questionable tag after dealing with a lung blood clot. First-round pick Monroe Freeling started the opening four contests in his place before suffering a knee injury in Week 4. Wharton, who underwent neck surgery during organized team activities after signing a three-year, 45 million dollar contract, also practiced fully and is questionable. He has appeared in nine games with the team, recording 36 tackles and two sacks, and is expected to rotate alongside Bobby Brown III, Lee Hunter and Aaron Hall opposite Derrick Brown.
Etienne Adds Depth at Running Back
Etienne returns from an ankle injury sustained in the preseason finale. With AJ Dillon ruled out, the 2025 fourth-round pick is in line to back up Chuba Hubbard and handle primary kick and punt return duties. The team also elevated running back Anthony Tyus III and cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad. Carolina continues to monitor the status of Freeling along with outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips and left guard Damien Lewis, both listed as questionable.
