Atlanta finds its spark

Michael Penix Jr.'s return from a torn ACL brought a dramatic change for the Falcons on Thursday night. After struggling through the opening two weeks, Atlanta overwhelmed Green Bay at Lambeau Field and moved to 1-2. Penix threw an interception on his third pass but recovered to complete 18 of 25 attempts for 256 yards and a touchdown. His scoring pass went to tight end Austin Hooper, while Drake London finished with nine receptions for 194 yards. The turnaround was clear by halftime. Atlanta had scored 17 points, already surpassing the 16 it managed across its opening two games with Cooper Rush at quarterback. The Falcons also ended their season-opening drought of 27 drives without a red zone snap.

Robinson leads a dominant ground attack

Bijan Robinson rushed for 194 yards and a touchdown as Atlanta piled up 244 yards on the ground. Brian Robinson Jr. Also added a rushing touchdown. Green Bay entered the matchup allowing 87 rushing yards per game, but missed tackles helped Atlanta dismantle that early defensive success. Bijan Robinson alone gained 111 yards before halftime. The Packers were without edge rusher Micah Parsons because of an ACL injury and running back Josh Jacobs, who was on the commissioner exempt list.

Packers struggle to answer

Behind an offensive line missing two starters, Jordan Love completed 28 of 52 passes for 312 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Atlanta hit him 11 times, while Green Bay generated only 17 rushing yards. The defeat left the Packers at 1-2 and exposed continuing problems up front. Green Bay has rushed for 146 yards this season, its lowest total through the opening three games since 1933.
