Peralta Delivers Six Strong Frames
Freddy Peralta worked six innings and allowed just four hits while striking out six. Acquired at the trade deadline, Peralta posted a 3.25 ERA over 10 starts following his arrival.
Error Sparks Three Unscored Runs
Tampa Bay broke through in the fourth after a misplay by Jose Ramirez. Junior Caminero walked and Victor Mesa Jr. was ruled safe at first following a replay review. Chandler Simpson reached on an infield hit, then Ramirez let a grounder scoot under his glove. Liam Hicks followed with a two-run single that gave the Rays a 3-0 advantage in front of 32,125 fans.
Guardians Answer Late but Fall Short
Parker Messick took the loss after allowing six hits and three unearned runs across five innings. Cleveland pushed across one run in the seventh on a double by Chase DeLauter, but the Rays bullpen limited further damage. Kevin Kelly, Ian Seymour and Bryan Baker combined for three scoreless innings to close out the 3-1 victory.
