Setback for Veteran Receiver
The Steelers will be without wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. for multiple weeks after he aggravated a foot injury. The 29-year-old had already missed time earlier with plantar fasciitis in his left foot and was seen using a scooter after practice. The team acquired him in a March trade and signed him to a three-year, $59 million extension. In his early games with the club he has seven receptions on 12 targets for 89 yards.
Other Options Step Forward
Without Pittman the offense will rely more on Roman Wilson and Germie Bernard. Wilson has 14 receptions on 24 targets for 188 yards and is averaging 13.4 yards per reception. He has scored in consecutive games for the first time in his career. Bernard, a second-round pick, has seven receptions on 11 targets for 60 yards. The club also continues to monitor Rico Dowdle, who has missed practice after twice dislocating a toe.
Defensive Window Opens
On the other side of the ball the Steelers opened the 21-day practice window for safety DeShon Elliott, who is returning from injured reserve after a knee injury sustained in Week 8 of the 2025 season. Cornerback Jamel Dean is progressing from an ankle issue but has not practiced yet. To add depth the team signed Sean Murphy-Bunting and Terrell Smith from other practice squads.
