Williams Links Energy Swings to Playing Time
Kyren Williams suggested the Rams' uneven offensive energy from drive to drive stems from his absence on the field. The running back handled 40 snaps compared with 16 for teammate Blake Corum. Williams recorded 10 carries for 50 yards along with three receptions for 17 yards, while Corum posted nine carries for 42 yards, two catches for 18 yards and a score. For the season Williams has appeared on 70 percent of offensive plays, totaling 287 of 410 snaps, against Corum's 28 percent share of 114 snaps.
McVay Laments Repeated Self-Inflicted Errors
Coach Sean McVay stated the team continues to beat itself through penalties, poor execution and unforced mistakes. He noted that different players have contributed to the issues and stressed the need to correct them before any improvement in results can occur. McVay added that the Rams must align better with required standards, starting with his own leadership, to avoid the same shortcomings.
Season Outlook Remains Narrow
The Rams sit at 2-4 after the 18-16 defeat. Their playoff probability stands at 43 percent. The club became just the fifth team in the past 50 seasons to begin a year as an outright Super Bowl favorite yet drop at least four of its first six contests.
