Field Goal Failures Prove Costly
The Rams missed a 50-yard field goal wide left in the first quarter and saw a 48-yard attempt blocked in overtime. Those miscues contributed directly to the 37-34 defeat. The blocked attempt marked the third such occurrence for the team since the start of last season.
McVay Expresses Strong Disappointment
Coach Sean McVay stated that the kicking unit fell well short of expectations and that the entire group would face a complete evaluation. He noted the unit cost the team the game and voiced regret over the decision to kick rather than attempt a conversion on third down from the Buffalo 30. McVay added that he has not felt this level of frustration after a contest in some time. Wide receiver Puka Nacua emphasized the need for better execution on special teams plays or conversions in critical situations.
Standings Update in NFC West
The loss left the Rams at 2-3 and in third place in the division. They trail the 5-0 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-2 Seattle Seahawks.
