Gwyn likely to need surgery
Baltimore Ravens center Jovaughn Gwyn is expected to be sidelined for two to three months after fracturing his fibula, an injury that will likely require surgery. Gwyn left the field on a cart during Baltimore's 34-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL's first game in Rio de Janeiro. His absence interrupts his first season as a starter after winning the center competition against Ethan Pocic in training camp. Gwyn, 27, joined that competition after spending his first three seasons as a reserve for the Atlanta Falcons. He entered the league as a seventh-round selection in 2023.
Ioane preparing to shift inside
With Pocic also dealing with a knee injury, Baltimore is preparing rookie Olaivavega Ioane to start at center against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, coach Jesse Minter said Monday. Ioane, selected No. 14 in this year's draft, started the opening three games at right guard. Moving him inside would give the Ravens another new starter at a position already hit by significant turnover. Baltimore worked out centers Graham Glasgow and Kingsley Eguakun and guard Kyle Hergel on Tuesday as it explored offensive line help.
Another setback in replacing Linderbaum
The Ravens have struggled to settle the position since Tyler Linderbaum departed for the Las Vegas Raiders in March on a three-year, $81 million deal that made him the NFL's highest-paid center. Danny Pinter appeared positioned to win the starting job before suffering a season-ending knee injury in August. Gwyn's injury now adds another obstacle to Baltimore's effort to replace the three-time Pro Bowler.
