Dahlin Ruled Out After Second-Period Exit
The Buffalo Sabres announced that captain Rasmus Dahlin would not return for the rest of Monday's game against the Florida Panthers following an upper-body injury sustained early in the second period. His final shift lasted just 18 seconds and concluded 3:44 into the frame during a power play. Dahlin dropped to one knee after firing a shot from the slot following a faceoff in the Panthers zone, gathered the rebound along the boards, turned the puck over and then skated straight to the bench.
Markstrom Also Exits Early
Florida starting goalie Jacob Markstrom did not come out for the second period after allowing two goals on nine shots in the opening 20 minutes. He was replaced by Akira Schmid, with the team providing no immediate update on the 36-year-old netminder's status. Markstrom had joined the Panthers via trade from New Jersey to serve as the primary starter.
