Travel Method Draws Attention
Philadelphia 76ers forward LeBron James has chosen to reside in New York after joining the team and relies on helicopter transport for games and practices in Philadelphia. The approach has generated notice inside the facility where the sound of the aircraft occasionally interrupts team activities and media sessions. James has noted prior experience with similar transportation options as a standard alternative for getting around.
Commissioner Offers Support
Adam Silver addressed the situation by explaining that the helicopter service stems from an agreement between James and Fanatics. The commissioner described the setup as suitable provided the team plays no role in the arrangement. This structure avoids any conflict with existing league guidelines on player benefits or team involvement in sponsorship perks.
Precedent Among Players
Several 76ers players have elected to live outside Philadelphia in the past while fulfilling their commitments to the club.
