Health Decision Overrules Player Request
The 76ers chose to keep Joel Embiid out of Sunday's game against the Pistons as part of right foot plantar fasciitis management. Embiid had expressed interest in taking the court for the contest, the second of the team's opening back-to-back of the season. The move reflects an effort to preserve the center through a lengthy schedule after he has averaged just 49 games per season across 10 years in the league.
Recent Performance and Additional Absences
Embiid recorded his tenth career triple-double in Saturday's win over the Milwaukee Bucks, finishing with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Philadelphia also ruled out Dominick Barlow due to back issues, Jabari Walker because of a knee problem and Tacko Fall with a quad concern. Walker exited that Saturday contest in the third quarter after injuring his left knee.
Frontcourt Options and Detroit Update
Adem Bona stands as the lone true center available for the 76ers on Sunday. Dean Wade, who made his season debut the previous night, is expected to see time at the position. LeBron James, who sat out Saturday with sciatica management, carries no injury designation and could provide help inside. The Pistons will be without Jalen Duren, who has a hamstring injury and is expected to miss at least two weeks.
