Lineup Debuts in First Half
Spurs coach Mitch Johnson started De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle together for the first time in a 123-103 preseason win. The group opened with several missed shots before Fox exited late in the first quarter. By halftime the three guards had combined for 31 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to build a 60-49 lead.
Castle Leads Scoring Effort
Castle finished with a game-high 18 points, 14 of them from the free-throw line. Harper added 9 points and recorded a tip dunk late in the second quarter. The trio played 11 minutes together before intermission and produced 19 points with a plus-10 net rating.
Limited Minutes and Future Outlook
Fox played only the first half, logging 18 minutes and 33 seconds. Last season the same three guards shared the floor for just 69 minutes total, including 25 in the NBA Finals, when opponents outscored San Antonio by 47 points. Johnson noted the players have the size and skills to handle the ball and defend, even if they have not shared the court often.
