Title and Individual Honors
An annual poll of NBA general managers projects the San Antonio Spurs to capture the league championship. The same survey names Victor Wembanyama as the likely MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. The 7-foot-4 center captured 93 percent of votes when respondents were asked which player they would select to start a new franchise.
Voting Breakdowns
San Antonio collected 50 percent of the votes to win the title, ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wembanyama received 77 percent of the MVP votes, followed by Nikola Jokic with 10 percent and Anthony Edwards with 7 percent. The young center was also viewed as the player who forces the most adjustments, the top international player and the most versatile player overall.
Supporting Cast and Offseason Moves
Dylan Harper earned recognition as the player most likely to break out, ahead of Cooper Flagg. Veteran forward Tobias Harris was named the most underrated addition of the offseason. The Spurs' young core, featuring Wembanyama, Harper and Stephon Castle, was viewed as the league's most promising group. The Philadelphia 76ers received credit for the best overall offseason activity after adding LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, while Miami's acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo was seen as the move that will carry the largest impact.
